Monitoring & Analytics - Java & Weblogic

Description

  • Added ability to configure which Object/Metric you want to get for WebLogic (and Java applications in general)
  • Added KPIs for the following: Total Execute Threads, Idle Execute Threads, Hogging Threads, Standby Threads, Stuck Threads, JMS Messages Current Count, JMS Messages Pending Count, JMS Consumers, JDBC, JTA
  • Added default SLA and Email for all above KPIs

Examples

Monitoring & Analytics - Android Mobile Device

Description

germain Germain is now available for download on Android’s Play Store. This germain Germain android app monitors performance of a Android Mobile device and find issues affecting its performance (disk, memory, cpu, network, etc). Metrics we collect:
  • Application usage
  • Battery State
  • CPU usage
  • Disk usage internal & external (sd card, …)
  • IP address
  • Memory usage
  • Network Bandwidth
  • Network State (wifi, 3g, 4g, ….)
  • Process (including app name, pid, memory usage, state..)
  • Service usage (including service crash count, pid)
  • Device information (manufacturer, brand, osVersion, …)

Correlation

  • Integrated “device id” which can be uses to correlate data for a given device.
  • UUID for a device (this becomes critical for device-server data correlation, when no sessionId for instance)
Download it here: Google Play (no longer available) Reminder:
  • if you need to monitor User Experience of any Native Mobile App, please contact us to discuss the requirements
  • If you need to monitor User Experience of a Html Mobile App, all you need is to inject the JS scripts we either have provided you with, JS scripts you can also download here: GermainUX-RUM JS and configuration guidelines are here: Germaininit.<yourapp>.js configuration

Examples

Monitoring & Analytics - IOS Mobile device (wip)

Started implementing a Germain mobile app to monitor performance of IOS mobile device.

Monitoring & Analytics - Browser CPU usage

Enhanced Browser CPU usage real-time monitoring for better accuracy.

Monitoring & Analytics - User Session Replay optimizations

Description - Network Bandwidth reduction by 75%

Implemented compression of the data that Germain collects from every user’s browser, which reduces the network traffic by 75%. Example from a client production environment once compression enabled (we reduced the volume of user sessions to not disclose confidential information, yet the session size breakdown is exhaustive): More details on Germain’s Real User Monitoring and Session Replay

Monitoring & Analytics - Browser & Server data correlation (wip2)

Continuing configuration for correlation of browser and server side data for user clicks. Expected to be done 11/30/18

Monitoring & Analytics - Data export into XLS

Description

If you ever experience an issue (error or blank page) while exporting data into a XLS file, on Germain dashboard, try increasing the Tomcat setting as mentioned below. if that does not work, contact us please.

Configuration

File: $tomcat/conf/server.xml Parameter: maxPostSize Value: 52428800 (50MB)

Example

<Connector port=“8080” protocol=“HTTP/1.1”
connectionTimeout=“20000”
maxPostSize=“52428800” => Increase max POST size to 50MB
redirectPort=“8443” />

Monitoring & Analytics - Powershell

Description

Enhanced power-shell monitoring to create negative availability when WMI,SSH (…) commands fail to execute. Example: Data is now recorded by Germain whenever a Siebel srvrmgr execution fails.

Automation - ServiceNow integration

Description

As announced last month Germain now has the ability to make REST requests as part of an action. This month, we added these additional enhancements:
  • Alert only after “n” consecutive event(s)/check(s)
Example: Alert if an application component is “unavailable” for more than 15 mins or after 15 consecutive checks.
  • Quiet time mechanism per alert (instead of for all alert as it used to be)
  • Control the number of daily ticket(s) created in ServiceNow

Maintenance - Action Service on cloud

Description

Optimized Action Service so it runs within 512mb (previously it required more than 1GB to start, challenging for cloud environments)

Maintenance - Autorefresh on Drillthrough dashboard

Description

Auto-refresh of Drillthrough dashboards works now as following:
  • When time range is in the past: no auto-refresh
  • When time range is ‘today’ or extends into the future: auto-refresh at most every 30 minutes.
  • Otherwise, Drillthrough auto-refresh still obeys the User Profile’s Refresh Interval setting.

Maintenance - Dynamic Type Auto-Indexing

Description

Support for “no automatic indexing” on properties for Dynamic types. Ask us if you need more details.

Maintenance - Security of Configuration and Query Services

Description

Rest Services and Engines are now secured. Updated REST service config. Modified engine config to REST services to authenticate. This is important for any customers operating Germain on their or our cloud

Maintenance - Sonar integration bug fixes

Caching optimization

Maintenance - Deleting maximized portlet leaves empty dashboard

this is bug is now fixed
