Deploy Monitoring for TIBCO

🚀 Deploying GermainUX for TIBCO Monitoring: JMX and Spotfire Log Configuration

Deploy the GermainUX components required to collect performance, availability, JMX, and log data from TIBCO environments.

🏗️ Deployment Architecture

TIBCO monitoring is performed by a GermainUX Engine.

Depending on the required monitoring coverage, the Engine can collect data from:

Source

JMX

TIBCO Spotfire log files

Supporting infrastructure

Other configured monitoring sources

Deploy the Engine where it can reach the required TIBCO monitoring interfaces and files.

📋 Prerequisites

Before deployment, confirm:

Prerequisite

GermainUX is available for the target environment.

A GermainUX Engine is deployed and operational.

The Engine can communicate with Germain Enterprise.

The Engine can reach the target TIBCO server.

Required firewall access is available.

Required JMX connectivity is available when using JMX monitoring.

JMX credentials are available when authentication is enabled.

TIBCO Spotfire log files are accessible when using log monitoring.

The monitoring account has the required permissions.

⚙️ Deploy JMX Monitoring

Use JMX monitoring for TIBCO components that expose the required metrics through JMX.

🔎 1. Verify JMX Availability

Before configuring GermainUX, verify that JMX is enabled for the target TIBCO application.

Identify:

Item

Host

JMX port

JMX service URL

Authentication requirements

Required credentials

TLS/security requirements

🔗 2. Verify Connectivity

From the GermainUX Engine environment, verify that the JMX endpoint is reachable.

Confirm:

Check

DNS resolution

Network routing

Firewall access

JMX port access

Authentication

🛡️ 3. Verify Permissions

When JMX authentication is enabled, use an account with sufficient permissions to read the required JMX metrics.

Grant only the permissions necessary for monitoring.

🗄️ Deploy TIBCO Spotfire Log Monitoring

GermainUX supports monitoring of TIBCO Spotfire log files.

The documented configuration includes:

Component

Spotfire Action Log Parser

Spotfire Performance Log Parser

Spotfire Server Log Parser

Spotfire Log Directory Monitor

📁 1. Identify the Spotfire Log Directory

Determine the location of the Spotfire logs that GermainUX will monitor.

Confirm that the GermainUX Engine can access the required directory.

🔑 2. Verify File Permissions

The monitoring account must be able to read the required Spotfire log files.

Verify access to:

Log Type

Action logs

Performance logs

Server logs

Grant only the permissions required for monitoring.

✅ 3. Verify Log Generation

Confirm that Spotfire is generating the expected log files before configuring GermainUX.

This helps distinguish a GermainUX collection issue from a Spotfire logging configuration issue.

🏁 Validate the Deployment

Before configuring production monitoring, confirm:

⚙️ JMX

Check

Engine is online.

TIBCO server is reachable.

JMX endpoint is reachable.

Authentication succeeds.

Required JMX metrics are exposed.

📃 Spotfire Logs

Check

Engine can access the log directory.

Required files exist.

Monitoring account can read the files.

Spotfire is actively generating the expected logs.

Once deployment has been validated, continue with Configure Monitoring for TIBCO.
