Analytics - Portlet (enh)

Description

As always, we take our customers’ feedback very importantly. Here are a number of portlet usability enhancements to make it even easier to use:

• Zoom into the data (before zoom only increased/decreased the X axis. now it maximizes both X and Y axis)
  
• Date/time added on tooltip
• 
  Portlet maximization - now occurs when clicking on a “blank” area of any portlet (instead of having to click on the maximize icon on the top right end corner…icon which has been removed)

• Tooltip behavior enhanced (so it does not feel like it gets in the way)

Benchmark - Aurora vs MySQL vs Elastic

Description

We performed some testing to understand scalability differences between AWS RDS for Aurora, MySQL 5.7 and Elastic 7.13. Data volume during this benchmark: 3 TB data volume @ 300-400Million Germain unit inserted per day

Description Our State dashboard that allows Germain administrator maintain the Germain features has been gaining some traction and as a result here are a few more enhancements we built this month:

Maintenance - Performance Optimization

​

Description

Performed a round of optimization to make Germain faster, more scalable as these customers are growing their use of Germain to some significant levels. And things to note:

• Faster when using sub-partitions
• Query performance scales linearly with faster storage and available I/O speed. We confirmed that by using provisioned storage (500 MBs/sec baseline throughput) and non-provisioned (250 MBs/sec baseline throughput)
• Reduced network traffic by 3x. If you use our UX Monitoring & Replay feature and have very active users using your business applications, you will want to upgrade your Germain in order to have this optimization.
• Improved by 2x Storage Service performance

Maintenance - Relational db-to-Elastic data migration script

​

Description

GE’s Germain has been growing over the years and its MySql database needed to be replaced by Elastic to provide better scalability. Germain database for GE is currently ~3TB (3,158 GB). The Germain’s database switch was first performed and took place in a few hours, then Germain’s data migration was performed and lasted 1 weeks. The data migration script we created for this project can be used to migrate data of any other environment, if you also want to switch database technology.
