GE’s Germain has been growing over the years and its MySql database needed to be replaced by Elastic to provide better scalability. Germain database for GE is currently ~3TB (3,158 GB). The Germain’s database switch was first performed and took place in a few hours, then Germain’s data migration was performed and lasted 1 weeks. The data migration script we created for this project can be used to migrate data of any other environment, if you also want to switch database technology.
