WMI Action Types

A WMI Action can be:
  • Executed manually
  • Run automatically on a schedule
  • Triggered when an SLA condition is met

Configure a WMI Action

  1. Go to GermainUX Workspace > Wizards.
  2. Search for WMI Action.
  3. Click Add to open the wizard.
  4. Enter a unique, descriptive name for the action.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select the Windows server on which the action will execute.
  7. Select the credentials used to connect to the remote server.
  8. Enter the working directory containing the program or script.
  9. Enter the command or script to execute—for example, a PowerShell .ps1 or Windows Batch .bat file.
  10. Add any required arguments.
  11. Configure a schedule if the action should run automatically at specified times.
  12. Select an SLA if the action should run when a monitored condition is met.
  13. Review the configuration and save the action.

Use an Existing Script

Instead of entering a command directly, you can select an existing script from the Script dropdown. The selected script can then be:
  • Run manually
  • Executed on a schedule
  • Triggered by an SLA

Security Recommendations

  • Use a dedicated Windows account with the minimum required permissions.
  • Store credentials in a secure GermainUX credential configuration.
  • Never embed passwords in scripts or arguments.
  • Validate dynamic arguments before execution.
  • Configure timeouts and execution limits.
  • Test the action in a non-production environment before enabling automatic execution.
  • Enable logging and failure notifications to track execution results.
