> Templates define the content, structure, and appearance of alerts and reports automatically generated by GermainUX.

## Templates

Templates can be used to customize:

* Email subject lines and message content
* Alert details and supporting evidence
* Report layouts and formatting
* Data fields, measures, and contextual information
* Links and actions available to recipients

The **Template Editor**, introduced in GermainUX 2024.1, provides a simpler way to create, preview, and maintain custom alert and report templates.

## Notifications

Templates can be used by notification mechanisms such as:

* Email alerts
* SMS alerts
* Germain Workspace notifications
* Watches
* Automatically generated reports

See [Notifications](https://docs.germainux.com/main/notifications.md) for information about configuring email, SMS, Watch, and Workspace notifications.
