## Overview

The software required for an on-premise GermainUX deployment depends on the selected architecture, datastore, operating system, and monitoring components.

Before installation:

* Confirm the GermainUX version you will deploy.
* Select the Enterprise hosting architecture.
* Select and prepare the datastore.
* Install the required runtime and infrastructure services.
* Create the required service and email accounts.
* Validate browser and network requirements.
* Confirm version compatibility with Germain Software.

## GermainUX Workspace

GermainUX Workspace is accessed through a supported web browser and does not require locally installed client software.

### Supported Operating Systems

Any operating system capable of running a supported browser may be used.

### Supported Browsers

| Browser | Minimum version |
| - | - |
| Google Chrome | 68 or later—recommended |
| Microsoft Edge | 88 or later |
| Mozilla Firefox | 45 or later |
| Opera | 29 or later |
| Safari | 11 or later |

For the best security, compatibility, and performance, use a currently supported version of the selected browser.

### Browser Settings

The following browser capabilities must be enabled:

* JavaScript
* Web Storage
* Cookies when required by the configured authentication method
* HTTPS access to the GermainUX Enterprise URL

Browser extensions, privacy controls, or security policies must not block required GermainUX scripts, APIs, or storage.

### Optional Geographic Maps

If geographic mapping is enabled, user browsers require outbound HTTPS access to:

```text theme={null}
https://www.google.com/*
https://ajax.googleapis.com/*
https://www.gstatic.com/*
https://maps.gstatic.com/*
https://maps.googleapis.com/*
https://csi.gstatic.com/*
```

These domains are not required when geographic maps are not used.

See [Network Requirements](https://docs.germainux.com/main/network-requirements.md) for the complete network configuration.

## GermainUX Enterprise

### Supported Operating Systems

GermainUX Enterprise requires a 64-bit operating system.

Supported operating-system families include:

* Microsoft Windows
* IBM AIX
* Debian Linux
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux
* SUSE Linux
* Ubuntu Linux
* Oracle Solaris

Confirm the specific operating-system version with Germain Software before deploying or upgrading.

### Required Software

| Software | Requirement | Purpose |
| - | - | - |
| Java | Oracle JDK 11 or later, or a supported OpenJDK 11 or later | Runs GermainUX Enterprise services |
| Apache Tomcat | 8.5 or later | Hosts the GermainUX Enterprise web application |
| Apache ActiveMQ Classic | 5.17 or later | Provides messaging between GermainUX components |
| Microsoft .NET Framework | 3.5 or later for applicable Windows deployments | Supports Windows-specific deployment components |

The exact supported versions may vary by GermainUX release. Use the versions included in or approved for your GermainUX installation package.

Do not independently upgrade Java, Tomcat, ActiveMQ, or another platform dependency without first confirming compatibility.

### Email Account

Provide an email account that GermainUX Enterprise can use to send:

* Alerts
* Scheduled reports
* User notifications
* Administrative messages
* Password-reset or account-related emails when applicable

Prepare the following information:

* SMTP host
* SMTP port
* Encryption method
* Authentication method
* Username and credentials
* Sender address
* Allowed recipient domains

If the organization’s email gateway supports email-to-SMS, the same account may also be used for SMS delivery.

### Service Accounts

Create the service accounts required to run GermainUX Enterprise and related components.

Accounts should have only the permissions necessary to:

* Start and stop GermainUX services
* Read installation and configuration files
* Write logs and temporary data
* Connect to the GermainUX datastore
* Access monitored systems when specifically required
* Execute authorized monitoring or automation tasks

Avoid using personal administrator accounts for production services.

### Network Connectivity

GermainUX Enterprise requires access to:

* The GermainUX datastore
* GermainUX Engines and other deployed components
* Configured authentication systems
* Email services
* Monitored applications or services when Enterprise connects directly
* External integrations enabled by your organization

See [Network Requirements](https://docs.germainux.com/main/network-requirements.md) for ports, protocols, sources, and destinations.

## GermainUX Datastore

### Supported Operating Systems

The datastore must run on a 64-bit operating system supported by the selected datastore technology.

Possible operating-system families include:

* Microsoft Windows
* IBM AIX
* Debian Linux
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux
* SUSE Linux
* Ubuntu Linux
* Oracle Solaris

The datastore vendor’s operating-system requirements take precedence.

### Supported Datastore Technologies

GermainUX supports the following datastore technologies:

* Elasticsearch—preferred
* PostgreSQL
* MySQL
* Oracle Database Enterprise Edition:
* Oracle 11g
* Oracle 12c

> [accordion] Show all 9
>
> * Oracle 18c
> * Oracle 19c
> * Microsoft SQL Server

Confirm the supported version and required configuration for your GermainUX release before installation.

### Datastore Account

Create a dedicated account for GermainUX Enterprise to access the datastore.

The account must have the permissions required to:

* Connect to the datastore
* Create and update the GermainUX data structures
* Read and write monitoring data
* Create or manage indexes where applicable
* Perform installation and upgrade operations
* Execute required maintenance operations

Use separate accounts or permissions for installation, runtime access, and administration when required by your security policies.

### Datastore Preparation

Before installing GermainUX Enterprise:

* Install and validate the selected datastore.
* Create the GermainUX database, schema, or Elasticsearch resources.
* Configure authentication and encryption.
* Confirm connectivity from GermainUX Enterprise.
* Configure backup and recovery.
* Define retention and cleanup policies.
* Configure replication or high availability if required.
* Confirm adequate CPU, memory, storage, and disk performance.

See [Hardware Requirements](https://docs.germainux.com/main/hardware-requirements.md) and Storage Requirements.

## GermainUX Engines and Monitoring Components

Additional software may be required depending on the deployed components and monitored technologies.

Examples include:

* Java for GermainUX Engines
* Docker and Docker Compose for container-based deployments
* Browser extensions for RUM Extension, JS Profiler, or RPA Bot Recorder
* Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for GermainUX-Agent
* Database-specific JDBC drivers
* Technology-specific libraries or runtime components
* Android requirements for mobile monitoring
* Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift for container-orchestrated deployments

Review the deployment guide for each selected GermainUX component before installation.
