Monitoring is a core GermainUX capability that operates continuously or at configured intervals to provide near-real-time visibility into software health, business processes, and user experience.

## Primary Use Cases

| Use Case | Description |
| - | - |
| **Software health and troubleshooting** | Detect, investigate, and help resolve software, infrastructure, integration, and performance issues. |
| **Business-process analysis** | Measure process performance, identify bottlenecks, and quantify overruns or lost productivity. |
| **User-experience analysis** | Identify the UX, workflow, and technology issues affecting users. |

## Reactive, Proactive, and Predictive Monitoring

GermainUX supports three complementary monitoring approaches:

| Approach | Description | Primary Configuration Area |
| - | - | - |
| **Reactive** | Captures and analyzes events and issues as they occur, helping teams understand their causes and impact. | [Analytics](https://docs.germainux.com/main/analytics.md) |
| **Proactive** | Continuously checks applications, services, infrastructure, and transactions to identify issues before users report them. | [Automation](https://docs.germainux.com/main/automation-management.md) |
| **Predictive** | Uses thresholds, trends, and Smart Insights to identify abnormal behavior or emerging risks. | **Analytics > SLAs** |

## Configure Monitoring

Monitoring can be configured from:

* The **Monitoring** tab on the **Wizards** dashboard
* The **Analytics** section of the Germain Workspace
* The **Automation** section of the Germain Workspace

These areas allow you to define what GermainUX monitors, how frequently monitoring runs, what data is collected, and which analytics or automated actions are applied.

## Operate and Troubleshoot Monitoring

Go to **Germain Workspace > Left Menu > Germain > State** to:

* Review what is currently being monitored
* Inspect the status of services, Engines, Nodes, Components, agents, and monitoring scripts
* Identify the configuration responsible for each monitoring process
* Enable, disable, deploy, update, or troubleshoot monitoring components
