## Overview

GermainUX can be deployed in the **GermainUX Cloud**, in **your own cloud**, **on-premise in your data center**, or using a **hybrid architecture**.

GermainUX Enterprise provides the central platform for configuration, data processing, analytics, AI, dashboards, Session Replay, alerts, reports, and automation.

Additional GermainUX components are deployed based on the applications, technologies, infrastructure, and user experiences you need to monitor.

> [accordion] Web or SaaS Application: JavaScript Cannot Be Deployed
>
> Use **GermainUX RUM Extension** when you cannot modify the application or inject RUM JS directly into it.
>
> This is particularly useful for SaaS applications and other applications where your organization does not control the source code.
>
> [Learn how to deploy RUM Extension](https://docs.germainux.com/main/germain-ux-rum-extension.md)

> [accordion] Native Windows Application

## Monitor Backend Applications and Infrastructure

Deploy one or more **GermainUX Engines** when monitoring, data collection, integration, or automation needs to execute close to a protected resource.

Engine can be used to monitor supported:

* Applications
* APIs
* Databases
* Servers
* Operating systems
* Files

> [accordion] Show all 13
>
> * Logs
> * Networks
> * Infrastructure
> * Cloud services
> * Messaging systems

Depending on the supported runtime, Code Profiler can provide visibility into:

* Transactions
* Code execution
* Methods
* Dependencies
* Errors
* Performance bottlenecks

Supported runtimes include technologies such as Java, .NET, Go, and Node.js.

[Deploy GermainUX Code Profiler](https://docs.germainux.com/main/germain-ux-code-profiler.md)

* Alerts operate as expected.

## Security and Privacy

Before production deployment, determine:

* Which applications and environments may be monitored
* Which users may be monitored
* Which information may be collected
* Which information must be excluded
* Which values must be masked or anonymized
* Where monitoring data may be stored
* Who may access monitoring data
* Who may access Session Replay
* How long data should be retained

These controls apply whether GermainUX Enterprise is deployed in GermainUX Cloud, your infrastructure, or using a hybrid architecture. More details on [compliance and security](https://docs.germainux.com/main/compliance-privacy-and-security.md).
