## GermainUX scheduling overview

GermainUX can execute actions and tasks automatically on a recurring schedule or at a specific time.

Supported actions include:

* Click and synthetic-user scenarios
* HTTP actions
* Local programs
* Scripts
* SQL queries
* SSH commands
* WMI commands

## Configure a Schedule

You can define a schedule using the visual scheduler in the GermainUX Workspace or an advanced CRON expression.

### Using the Visual Scheduler

1. Open the action you want to schedule in the **GermainUX Workspace**.
2. Enable **Run on Schedule**.

3. Use the scheduler to configure the execution frequency.

The visual scheduler supports common schedules, including:

* Every minute
* Hourly
* Daily
* Weekly
* At specific times ![Scheduling of an Action: Using the Visual Scheduler, image 2](https://mintcdn.com/germain-ux/ZJflvRMC808oZDAs/images/main/component-scheduling/image-20201215-181158.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=ZJflvRMC808oZDAs\&q=85\&s=cd9342986d5ac128928b28e4084fc6a8)

Save the action after configuring its schedule.

### Using a CRON Expression

For more advanced scheduling requirements, select the advanced scheduling option and enter a valid Quartz CRON expression.

A Quartz CRON expression generally uses the following fields:

```text theme={null}
Seconds Minutes Hours Day-of-Month Month Day-of-Week [Year]
```

Verify the applicable time zone before enabling a production schedule.

## CRON Expression Examples

| CRON expression | Execution schedule |
| - | - |
| `0 0 12 * * ?` | Every day at 12:00 p.m. |
| `0 15 10 ? * *` | Every day at 10:15 a.m. |
| `0 15 10 * * ?` | Every day at 10:15 a.m. |

| `0 * 14 * * ?` | Every minute from 2:00 p.m. through 2:59 p.m., every day. |
| `0 0/5 14 * * ?` | Every five minutes from 2:00 p.m. through 2:55 p.m., every day. |
| `0 0/5 14,18 * * ?` | Every five minutes from 2:00–2:55 p.m. and 6:00–6:55 p.m., every day. |
| `0 0-5 14 * * ?` | Every minute from 2:00 p.m. through 2:05 p.m., every day. |
| `0 10,44 14 ? 3 WED` | At 2:10 p.m. and 2:44 p.m. every Wednesday in March. |
| `0 15 10 ? * MON-FRI` | At 10:15 a.m. every Monday through Friday. |
| `0 15 10 15 * ?` | At 10:15 a.m. on the 15th day of every month. |
| `0 15 10 L * ?` | At 10:15 a.m. on the last day of every month. |
| `0 15 10 ? * 6L` | At 10:15 a.m. on the last Friday of every month. |
| `0 15 10 ? * 6L 2002-2005` | At 10:15 a.m. on the last Friday of every month from 2002 through 2005. |
| `0 15 10 ? * 6#3` | At 10:15 a.m. on the third Friday of every month. |
| `0 0 12 1/5 * ?` | At 12:00 p.m. every five days, starting on the first day of each month. |
| `0 11 11 11 11 ?` | Every November 11 at 11:11 a.m. |

Before activating a scheduled action, validate the expression and confirm that its execution frequency will not create overlapping runs or excessive load.
