## User Behavior Analysis

GermainUX combines aggregate behavioral analytics with individual Session Replay to help teams understand what users do, where they encounter friction, and why they behave in a particular way.

> [!NOTE]

> Behavior Insights by GermainUX.

It helps answer questions such as:

* Which features, pages, and workflows do users engage with?
* Where do users hesitate, repeat actions, encounter errors, or abandon a journey?
* Which paths lead to successful or unsuccessful outcomes?
* What prevents users from completing a transaction?
* Where do employees lose time?
* Which behavioral patterns affect adoption, conversion, productivity, or customer satisfaction?
* What did an individual user experience before an issue occurred?

> [!NOTE]
>
> **GermainUX connects user behavior with workflows, business outcomes, application performance, and technology activity in real time.**

### Behavioral Analysis Capabilities

| Capability | What it helps you understand |
| - | - |
| **Interaction Analysis** | Which buttons, links, fields, menus, searches, and other elements users interact with |
| **Flow Analysis** | How users progress through journeys and where they abandon, repeat, skip, or struggle with steps |
| **Heatmaps** | Where users click, move, scroll, spend time, or encounter issues on a page |
| **Session Replay** | What an individual user saw and did before, during, and after an issue |
| **Work-Time Mining** | Where users and teams spend time, wait, repeat work, or lose productivity |
| **Segmentation** | How behavior differs by application, page, product, workflow, user group, device, browser, region, or other attributes |

## Interaction Analysis

Interaction Analysis aggregates individual user actions to reveal how people engage with an application.

GermainUX can analyze:

* Clicks and taps
* Field interactions
* Searches
* Keyboard and mouse activity
* Page and screen navigation
* Repeated or rapid interactions

> [accordion] Show all 9
>
> * Errors associated with user actions
> * Response time following each interaction
> * Actions preceding abandonment or failure

These insights help teams identify:

* Frequently and rarely used functionality
* Confusing interface elements
* Repeated actions indicating user frustration
* Interactions associated with errors or poor performance
* Features affecting adoption or conversion
* Differences between user populations

Users can drill down from aggregate behavior into the related users, sessions, interactions, technical activity, and Session Replay.

## Flow Analysis

GermainUX Focused Flow analyzes how users progress through defined journeys, processes, and milestones.

It helps teams identify:

* The paths users take
* Where users enter or leave a journey
* Steps users skip or repeat
* Unexpected navigation
* Delays between milestones
* Errors and performance problems affecting progression
* Differences between successful and unsuccessful journeys
* Segments with higher abandonment or completion rates

Flow Analysis can be applied to:

* eCommerce journeys and checkout
* CRM and ERP workflows
* Employee business processes
* Customer onboarding
* Application adoption
* Support and service workflows
* Other multi-step user journeys

## Page Insights and Heatmaps

GermainUX heatmaps aggregate user interactions to show how visitors engage with individual pages and screens.

Depending on the application and available data, heatmaps can help visualize:

* Click activity
* Mouse movement
* Scrolling
* Time spent
* User attention
* Errors and problematic interactions
* Activity associated with frustration or abandonment

Heatmaps help teams determine:

* Which content and controls attract attention
* Which elements users overlook
* Whether users interact with non-clickable elements
* How far users scroll
* Where users hesitate or struggle
* Whether page behavior differs across user segments

## User Session Insights

GermainUX provides searchable, millisecond-precise Session Replay that reconstructs what users see and do within an application.

Session Replay helps teams:

* Reproduce reported issues
* Understand the context surrounding an error
* Observe confusion, hesitation, and repeated actions
* Review navigation before an abandoned journey
* Investigate slow or failed interactions
* Correlate user behavior with network, frontend, backend, and infrastructure activity
* Validate that a correction improved the user experience

Sessions can be searched using criteria such as:

* User
* Application
* Page or screen
* Time period
* Error
* Performance condition

>
> * Business process
> * Transaction
> * User action
> * Other captured attributes

This makes it possible to move from an aggregate behavioral pattern to the exact sessions demonstrating it.

## Work-Time Mining

GermainUX measures how users spend time across tasks, workflows, and applications.

It helps identify:

* Excessive waiting time
* Repeated actions
* Unnecessary navigation
* Copying and pasting between applications
* Processes exceeding their SLA
* Time spent recovering from errors
* Workarounds caused by usability or technology problems
* Differences in productivity across teams or workflows

Work-Time Mining can quantify these patterns for an individual user, team, application, workflow, or entire organization.

## From Behavior to Root Cause

Behavioral data becomes more valuable when connected with the surrounding business and technical context.

A typical investigation follows this progression:

1. **Detect** an unusual behavior, drop-off, or degraded KPI.
2. **Measure** how many users, sessions, and transactions are affected.
3. **Segment** the behavior by page, product, workflow, user group, device, browser, region, version, or other attributes.
4. **Compare** successful and unsuccessful user journeys.
5. **Replay** representative sessions to understand the qualitative experience.
6. **Correlate** user actions with errors, requests, code execution, services, databases, and infrastructure.
7. **Identify** the evidence-backed cause.
8. **Validate** that the corrective action improved behavior and business outcomes.

### Key Takeaway

> [!NOTE]
>
> Aggregate analytics show what users do at scale. Session Replay shows how individual users experience it. GermainUX connects both perspectives with the workflow and technology evidence required to understand why.
